Toronto to Singapore, and then Shanghai, China to Toronto - $506 roundtrip | add Bangkok for $200

Singapore and Shanghai, China

United Airlines is showing open-jaw flights that allow you to fly from Toronto to Singapore, and then return home from Shanghai, China for $506 CAD roundtrip including taxes.

The flight between Singapore and Shanghai is not included. Singapore to Shanghai isn't a very cheap route, but you can usually find flights from Singapore to Hangzhou, China (HGH) for for $155 CAD on airlines such as Scoot.

Hangzhou is about 45 minutes away from Shanghai by high speed train.

You can also build other interesting trips using this fare. For example, you could book a separate flight from Singapore to Bangkok, Thailand (spend time there) and then fly from Bangkok to Shanghai, for a total price of just $200. Here is an example you can start with.

Note: Canadians usually require a visa to visit China. There are visa-free exceptions for up to 6 day stays in Shanghai, but research the rules carefully.

Availability for travel

February, March, late April, May 2019

How to find and book these flights

1. Go to Flighthub or Kayak

2. Change the search type to 'Multi-City'

3. Search for a flight like this one:

Toronto (YYZ) to Singapore (SIN)
Shanghai, China (PVG) to Toronto (YYZ)

- Try one of the following date combinations:

Feb 20 to Mar 6
Feb 27 to Mar 13

Mar 6 to Mar 19
Mar 13 to Mar 27
Mar 20 to Apr 3
Mar 27 to Apr 10

Apr 24 to May 8

May 1 to May 15
May 8 to May 21
May 15 to May 28
May 22 to Jun 4
May 29 to Jun 12

NOTE: For longer trips you can try mixing and matching dates from different lines in the list above.

You can also try many other dates in and around the dates listed above. I would focus on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday dates.

ALSO NOTE: On Flighthub, the first search result may not be the best flight option. Often times, the second or third result may be the fastest flights.

You should be able to find flights with 1 stop each way, for 1.5 to 2 hours. Clicking on '1 stop' on the left hand side can help narrow it down to the best flights.
