After yesterday's announcement by NewLeaf involving their plan to offer cheap flights from Hamilton, WestJet has thrown back a punch of their own, by offering flights from Toronto to Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Abbotsford, and Vancouver at prices that are far below their typical bottom levels (over 40% less than usual).
It's no coincidence that these are the same destinations NewLeaf targeted with their launch yesterday.
It would not be surprising to see Air Canada follow suit.
Both are likely to be aggressive with attempting to throttle new competition out of the marketplace.

How to find and book these flights...
1. Start with a search on Google Flights...
(click on the departure date box when you get there, to bring up the calendar view)
Toronto to Winnipeg - $195 CAD roundtrip including taxes
Toronto to Halifax - $196 CAD roundtrip including taxes
Toronto to Saskatoon - $231 CAD roundtrip including taxes
Toronto to Regina - $231 CAD roundtrip including taxes
Toronto to Kelowna, BC - $289 CAD roundtrip including taxes
(you may want to apply the non-stop filter on Google Flights. The dates are a lot more limited, but the alternative seems to be lengthy 2 stop flights)
Toronto to Abbotsford - $300 CAD roundtrip including taxes
(note that Abbotsford is a 1 hour drive from Vancouver)
Toronto to Vancouver - $321 CAD roundtrip including taxes
^^ nice! This is a new record for the cheapest Toronto - Vancouver flights.
Calgary and Edmonton are also available for a bit less than usual, at around $397 to $418 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
2. Click through from Google Flights to WestJet's website for booking.
NOTE: WestJet's website seems to be having technical difficulties at the moment. It might be overloaded due to the traffic coming from YYZ Deals. Hopefully it will be back online soon.
If you don't want to wait, you can try taking the same dates you found on Google Flights, and trying a search on Expedia.ca or Flight Network or ITravel2000. They are showing these fares as well.
