Today Porter becomes the 6th airline to offer nonstop flights between Toronto and Vancouver.
Porter has operated in Eastern Canada for 16 years and are now starting to expand to Western Canada with some of their 50 new Embraer E195-E2 passenger jets (not a prop plane).
Flights are out of YYZ (Pearson), not YTZ (Billy Bishop).
A few things that differentiate Porter:
- free beer, wine & snacks in economy
- no middle seats
- free Wifi
Toronto-Vancouver in Porter's 'standard' economy is currently priced at $293 CAD with a piece of carry-on, which makes them slightly higher than Air Canada & WestJet (currently $265 CAD roundtrip between January and June).
But Porter's July & August fares are the prices that stand out at the moment, as they are 40% cheaper than other airlines in these peak summer travel months. Availability is wide open, with every date available.
Update: Porter has added Calgary and Edmonton as their next destinations from Toronto. Flights are $305 to $317 CAD roundtrip with carry-on, including July & August travel.
