"I'm a travel junkie who's hooked on deals from YYZ." - Chris Myden

Toronto to Phoenix, Arizona - $281 roundtrip after taxes - availability through to August 2013

UPDATE 4:55 PM EST - Looks like United has put them back up, they're now at $660.

United looks to be having a large unadvertised fare drop to Phoenix. Their prices have dropped to less than 50% of their closest competitor.

It looks to have affected most dates all the way up to August 2013! As with all unadvertised fare drops, it's impossible to say how long they will last. I usually work under the assumption that they'll be back up in less than 24 hours. Sometimes they surprise me and last longer. Sometimes they only last a few hours. The point is, it's impossible to say for sure.

One thing to note is that United lets you hold a fare for up to 72 hours without completing your purchase. You can reserve your ticket, and then complete your purchase later while you think about it. Details about United's 'FareLock' can be found here.

Here are some example searches to get you started, but feel free to try your own dates. Click through to United from the Kayak searches below. If you have trouble booking on United.com with a Canadian credit card, try the same dates on http://www.United.ca

November - December
^^ Even over Christmas is currently available, if you can leave on Dec 18th.

January - February - March

April - May - June

July - August - September

Guide: Things to do in Arizona http://www.arizonaguide.com/things-to-do

Facts about Arizona:

- Area-wise Arizona is the 6th largest state, with 113,998 square miles. This is roughly equivalent to that of the size of Italy.

- Arizona has the highest number of state and national parks. The total area of the national park in itself amounts to about 11.2 million acres, which is about one-fourth of the entire area of the state.

- The capital city of Phoenix has an average of 211 sunny days throughout the year.

My thoughts:

If you ever get the chance to visit Arizona, be sure to try and get a permit ahead of time to visit The Wave (most amazing rock formation you'll ever see). The slot canyons are also awesome and a photographer's dream. The pic at the top of this post is of Horseshoe Bend, another incredible sight. Oh and there's that little place called the Grand Canyon you may have heard of.

Worked like a charm -- I got a reservation and put a hold on it for three days so I can reconsider before I have to finalize it and pay. Thanks for the tip.

Too bad it's gone, after I booked (cancellable) Fairmont Scottsdale using a free certificate ($500/night)

Oh well, should've bought the $15 United 3-day hold then :P

On the bright side, probably saved $1000 in expenses and I'm sure other deals would pop up

Just had a look and you can still got from BUF-PHX for about $240 r/t which even when you add the cost of the Megabus ticket you're still under or near the $280 r/t; many dates still available on ITA
