Yep, you'll get another voucher after your flights WILL BE cancelled. The only reason Air Canada is selling this cheap is because they believe they won't fly. It's your bet against theirs.

I just wanted to provide a PSA for people thinking about booking this trip through Air Canada vs TAP. I couldn't post this on the "Toronto to Italy, the UK, Switzerland, Poland, France, Austria and more - $416 CAD roundtrip" because the comment section is closed.

Although TAP pricing is very attractive, take a look at their twitter page for customer reviews before booking. I'm also going through what others are - the airline cancels a flight and is required to provide a refund in the form of a voucher (cancels frequently), and unfortunately the issuance of the voucher itself can take months! I'm currently running on month 4. And when they do issue a voucher, it's often for the incorrect (lower) amount. What's even worse is that Visa won't touch this since the airline 'issued' a voucher, regardless for what amount. It may have just as well been for $1

Book with Air Canada, there is a lot more regulatory oversight and at least they issue a voucher immediately

I've been waiting for my Air Canada voucher since December 9... I strongly advise people to just not book anything unless you're willing to have airlines hold onto your money.

There should be an announcement tonight from Ottawa about a relief package for our nation's airlines (not quite a bailout, but low interest loans and wage subsidies).

As part of the terms, it's also expected that the package will include a fund for airlines to draw from to refund customers for cancelled flights.

Hopefully this forces the airlines to give people back what they're owed. Sadly, they were likely holding on to it as leverage until they could negotiate a deal with the feds, which took a very long time.
