Don’t forget, Costco Canada sells Porter $500 gift cards for $450
Great tip although the flights might be gone by then! Nice if you already have one though.
Are we sure they will still allow carry on because Porter does state only personal item?
Air Transat doesn't have a fare class to Europe without carry-on included. So I'm quite confident that carry-on would have to be included.
If you look at the small text at the very bottom under the 'Select' button on the Porter website you can also see...
2. 'A standard carry-on bag and electronic boarding passes are included with Basic fares on flights to/from Europe and Africa.
The most bare bones of Air Transat fare classes to Europe is 'Eco Budget' which includes 1 carry-on bag.
I'd actually called them after booking, and they (Air Transat) said that they would follow the booking (Porter) airline so it would only be a personal item.
Wow, that’s left me confused now. Great deal though, so thanks Chris!
Would be great if anyone else gets clarity on this and posts here.
Interesting, thanks Matthew. That does surprise me. One can see on Air Transat's website that with their recent baggage policy change (on February 11th when Air Transat removed carry-on from certain fares) that it only applies to and from the South (except Peru), the United States, and domestic flights within Canada
And the terms and conditions on Porter's website definitely show carry-on to be included beside point number '2'.
But the Canadian airlines have really made a mess of things in the last 2-6 months with some of their policy changes in an effort to copy what their competitors are doing and often times their websites (and likely their support agents) haven't been able to keep up with all of the changes.
Baggage allowance is based on the company operating the flight, in this case Air Transat.
