United Airlines and ANA have dropped the price of their flights from Toronto to Tokyo or Osaka, Japan down to between $696 and $725 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights to Tokyo have 1 stop each way. To Osaka, there is an extra stop in Tokyo.
From Osaka, it's a 26 minute train ride ($17) to the beautiful city of Kyoto if you use the special rapid trains on the JR Kyoto Line.
This does not feel like the best prices we'll see to Japan from Canada. Especially since certain U.S. cities have recently had flights for as low as $260 CAD roundtrip.
You can also find flights from Toronto to Kobe, Japan for $675 CAD roundtrip.
Some important things to note:
- Japan is closed to international tourists. Nobody knows when they will re-open. At one point Japan was planning to 'test drive' allowing some international tourists to visit in the spring of 2021, but that seems unlikely to happen.
Opening back up in the fourth quarter of 2021 seems to be the most optimistic educated guess right now, but I don't think anyone would be shocked if it took Japan until early 2022. Vaccination progress has been very slow in Japan.
