Avianca has dropped the price of their flights from Toronto to Guatemala down to $256 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
Actually, that's not quite true. Avianca doesn't include any carry-on luggage in their base fares which allows their prices to appear significantly cheaper than they really are in major search engines.
You need to add around $120 CAD roundtrip to their prices for a more realistic comparison against other airlines.
For a true comparison against other airlines, Avianca's flights to Guatemala have dropped down to $374 CAD roundtrip.
The November dates are the most desirable, as November is the onset of dry season for Guatemala. In October there can occasionally be showers for a few hours in the afternoon. The rain typically tends to taper off by mid-October.
The flights have one stop in El Salvador each way.
You can also find flights from Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) for $59 CAD more roundtrip.
UPDATE: Toronto to Guatemala is still available for $279 CAD roundtrip (base price). Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica is $48 more.

1. Start with the following Google Flights search:

- Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.
- Adjust the trip length at the bottom.
- Look for the cheapest dates ($256 roundtrip).
2. Click through to the Avianca website. The price will be in $USD. You need to select the 'Basic Fare' level and then ignore the usual attempts to sell you a bundle.
And then add your luggage separately in the following steps.
The price should be: $188 USD for the roundtrip flight and $87 USD for roundtrip carry-on.
$188 + $87 USD = $374 CAD roundtrip for flight + carryon.
