TAP Portugal has dropped the price of their flights from Toronto to Ponta Delgada in the Azores down to $350 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
At first glance this may seem like a great deal. But there's a problem. The layovers (in Lisbon, Portugal) are 6-7 hours long.
The layovers alone are longer than it takes to fly directly from Toronto to Ponta Delgada, which is 5 hours and 40 minutes (using Azores Airlines).
These flights with TAP are over 10 hours longer. You could fly to the Azores nearly 3 times in the time it would take you to fly there once with these flights.
There are a couple of dates with a short layover on the way home (Mar 29 and 30).
You can also find flights from Toronto to Terceira Island, Azores (TER) for a similar price.
